Hi there and thank you for your question,
There are several things you can do to try and keep cats off of your Christmas tree. the first thing you can do is to put orange peels around the tree or spray citronella oil all over the tree as cats do hate that smell.
It is a common fact that many cat owners have resorted to spray bottles and use the word " No" in a stern voice to get their cats to learn not to repeat unwanted behaviors by their owner. Sites such as : http://www.cat-world.com.au/pavlovs-cats and http://www.willasark.com/cattraining.cfm both confirm the use of spray bottles in order to train your pet feline.
It is also wise to remember that with a Christmas tree and cats you should remove all breakable ornaments or move them to the top of the tree also tape the plug with electrical tape where the lights are to the outlet so they don't get hurt. Hope this helps you out a little bit and good luck to you and your cats.!
