How do I jumpstart my acting career?

I am an aspiring actress(under 18) and i've done research, tried to find acting jobs, gone to auditions but i just can't find a way into the acting world/network! Any tip or steps to how to get into acting?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

WARNING, BRUTAL HONESTY AHEAD!

Let me be frank, as a small time stage actor I have met people who are spectacular who never scored a job acting. On the flip side I know someone who is good, who is about to go into her second film.

If you want to do this be warned it is a field where most aspiring talent will fail.

The keys to success are

1 Luck - If you are not right look and age for the roles being offered no amount of talent will help.

2 Networking - You must meet people who can get you in touch with people who are in charge of casting. Many agents are fickle and of dubious value, if you want an agent research research research.

3 Portfolio - You must be able to show that you have talent, a good way to do this is to do podcasting and short films. The difficult thing is getting noticed over the spectacular number of people who do the same thing.

4 Physical Attractiveness - Unless your specialty is comedy which is fairly forgiving, acting is a very shallow field where people who are not very attractive may have a difficult time getting jobs. Make sure you have a good look. Stay fit, lean muscle is preferable.

For your age focus on classes that can aid your skill. Look into colleges with strong acting programs. The professors often have contacts in the field.
