How do I get from Irvine, CA, to Indio, CA, using only public transit?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

According to SoCalTransport which provides maps/routes/schedules for California buses and railways, there is no route from Irvine to Indio. However, I find that hard to believe. I am not familiar with Irvine and its surrounding areas, so I would suggest you try to map out your trip yourself using this link: http://socaltransport.org/tm_pub_start.php?place0=irvine&place1;=indio&day0;=Today&timecrit0;=AR&hour0;=&min0;=&m0;=A&fare;=RG&evaluateButton.x;=28&evaluateButton.y;=7&evaluateButton;=Submit or this link: http://socaltransport.org/tm_pub_start.php?place0=irvine&place1;=indio&day0;=Today&timecrit0;=AR&hour0;=&min0;=&m0;=A&fare;=RG&evaluateButton.x;=28&evaluateButton.y;=7&evaluateButton;=Submit

One option is by Greyhound, although that would be a long day.

Greyhound runs from Anaheim to Indio for $25.25 for a one way - 3 1/2 hour trip. You could take public transit from Irvine to Anaheim.

Depending on how long you are going it probably would be cheaper to rent a car.
