How do i fix my Phillips 2GB MP3 Player?

When ever i try to turn it on, it goes to the white start screen that says "Phillips" and then just goes off. When i try to connect it to the computer, it will keep connecting and reconnecting over and over again. Can someone tell me if there is a way to repair it or fix it?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Without knowing the specific model number of the device, it would be hard to recommend a fix. Philips has a very good website on DIY troubleshooting before you send/bring the unit to the repair centers.

First, go to Philips portable audio support
http://www.support.philips.com/support/html/index_us_en.html#../~scripts/xsltransform.asp?url=http://www.sms.philips.com/catalogue/list?sid=SMS||type=CONSUMER||locale=us_en||mode=subcats||item=MP3_PLAYERS_CA&xsl=prodcatalog.xsl

Then, type in the model number of your device to look for possible solutions.
On the same pages, there is also Ask Phyllis - which is online chat support features.

One of the thing that you can do is the following. Please note, this instruction is for SA2325/37. To get the correct instruction for your unit, please search using the aforementioned link.

1. When your player is locked up or seems dead, you may connect to your PC to repair the device with the Device Manager.
2. Launch Philips Device Manager at Start > Programs > Philips Digital Audio Player > SA2xxx > Philips SA2xxx Device Manager on your PC.
3. Connect your player to the PC.
4. Device Manager should acknowledge your player and automatically go into recovery mode.
5. Follow the instructions given by Device Manager to proceed.
6. After the player has been repaired, click OK and disconnect your PC.
7. The player is ready for use again after restart.

If it's not under warranty then it's unlikely you will be able to fix it. If you have electronics skills you could open it up and poke around a bit but the highly integrated nature of modern electronics means it's unlikely you will be able to fix it unless you see something obviously wrong.

I would try to perform a hard reset on it. If there is a reset button, take the batteries out, hold the reset button down for about a minute, then reinsert the batteries with the reset button still held down. If there is no reset button, take the batteries out and hold down the power button for about a minute, then reinsert the batteries. You may have to leave the batteries out a little longer if that doesn't work.
