How do I find the slope of a line passing through two points?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

For example:
A line passes through the points (2,4) and (3,-3). What is the slope of the line? What is the equation of the line?
slope = (-3-4)/(3-2)
slope = -7/1
slope = -7
Now use the formula Y-Y1=m(X-X1)
Y-4= -7(X-2)
Y-4= -7X+14
Y-4+4 = -7X+14+4
Y= -7X+18
If the question asks for the equation of the line in standard form it would be 7X+Y -18 = 0

M$Example: Find the slope of the line passing through the points; (1, 3) and ( 4, 6)
So then do (6-3)/(4-1) to get 3/3 and then simplify to 1.
If given an equation---I would have to know exactly what you're talking about.....if you could do it in a response to this answer I will be better able to help you, as I am a math tutor.
Here are a couple videos to try and help you as well, if they are the type you are looking for.
