How do I disassemble or take apart a Lacie 500GB Little Disk like: http://tinyurl.com/35k7rj ?

I am trying to cleanly take the hard drive out of the Lacie 500GB Little Disk.
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Here is your answer. :)

Now, the one in the articles is the Porche edition; however, the drives should be pretty much the same. Here was the originating article with which I found the second one:

Take care.

Thanks but I am looking for the instructions for a "little disk" from Lacie.

The current "answer" post is actually not useful at all for the drive in question.

I posted a photo and instructions for doing this to the correct drive here:

Thanks for the answers. On the little disk there seems to be 2 spots of glue on the top of the enclosure (where the USB cable is). If you get a knife or something slim to break the seal on this glue. The drive harness will slide out. The project I was working on is here http://moveitforward.blogspot.com/2008/12/upgrade-macbook-pro-to-500gb-drive.html . Put a 500GB drive in my MacBook Pro

Actually, if you read the blog I linked to it does give directions that would help with disassembly of this drive. The casing on the drives is very similar if not identical outside of materials and color.

Thank you for the additional information.

Correct, Darth, which is why I posted in the first place. I looked at the housings for both of the devices and they are very, VERY similar. The closures for the devices' housings to provide a screwless finish should be similar if not exactly the same.

The steps akuta linked to might still be relevant, some manufacturers will follow similar trends in products of a particular category, meaning one method of disassembly might have some parallels from one product model to the next.
