How can I set an elegant table without spending any money?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hi @FinkPloyd!
You can set an elegant table and a formal look without spending a lot if you follow these tips:
1. Decide first on a color palette that you want to follow through and coordinate colors but don't overdo it. Avoid choosing a lot of colors though because it can be overwhelming and will look cluttered. Choose a simple but pretty tablecloth. Choose a solid color and just add in different coordinating colors for plates and glasses.
Another options is to choose a table cloth that has simple patterns and work with the colors in it or a tablecloth made of lace.
2. If you are shopping look for discounted items or those that are on sale. Choose plain items and just dress them up with other items. Place a pretty bouquet of flowers as a centerpiece in the middle of the table. A bouquet of flowers with the same color brings a classy and elegant look.
3. Place the plates on the table and put a cloth napkin on top or side of the place. You can also add an elegant napkin ring onto the napkin to add pretty look to your table. You can place silverware that you will be using on the table beside the plate but avoid over-cluttering the table. Be sure to put only those that you will be using.
4. Place color tinted or plain goblets on the table to add some sparkle. If you are serving more than one beverage to each person, put the wine goblet above the spoon and water goblet above the kine. If you are only using one goblet put it above the tip of the knife.
You can also set candles around the table and choose one that match the hues of your color palette or simple white candles in pretty elegant candle holders.
5. You can also dress up the chairs by using coordinated colored ribbon to the back of the chairs. Just put it around the back of the chair and bring it down along the sides. It would look very nice and elegant.
