How can I see how much I have made off my stocks, by month?

I want to update my finance app. So, it can more accurately tell me my net worth. I'll need something that can tell me my past month by month's gain. (ie, gained $200 in Feb, -$33 in Jan, etc)

Buy Jun 20, 2007 9.00 120.65 AAPL
Buy Oct 13, 2008 8.00 104.79 AAPL
Buy Oct 13, 2008 4.00 33.50 HRL
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you have Microsoft Excel, you can use this free template. Just use this and create a different tab for each month so you compare performance throughout the year.

Good luck with your portfolio!

This is so far the best answer, however how can I get the stock price of my stocks for each month Jun, 2007 to present?

Thank You!!! I looked at this and did some editing and got exactly what I needed that requires little maintenance every month. Here is the spreadsheet: http://www.editgrid.com/user/michaellindahl/Stock_Investment_Performance-Apple_Stock

I use mint.com -- not only will it keep track of stock values and allow you to look at them over time, but it tracks your net worth it you let it. Just tell it where all your accounts and liabilities are...it's free and the NY Times recommended it.

Yes I use mint.com and love it too, however I have my father have my stocks under my account for ease of use and for college financing. I am looking for something where I plug in my data and it tells me how much I have profited or lost each month.

This will not let me see my past gain, month by month, it will only show daily.
