How can I remove Computrace from the BIOS of a Dell Optiplex 755?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Replace the bios IC if it's removeable, or try flashing it's firmware.
I'd leave it on, but not bother letting the computer online. It has no wifi, so just dont plug it into a network. You need to factor this in- it was made to be as hard to remove as possible. It will likely brick the mobo if you try to remove it.

otherwise, a hammer works quite well.
so does buying your own computer instead of ganking someone elses.
And before you retort with the obligatory "oh i bought it but it doesnt work right, or it was my friend's computer, or i bought it from the classifieds, blah blah blah.. BULL.
If it's a legit computer, dell will disable the lojack if you provide proof of ownership, and you should be able to find that no problem. If you cannot find someone who owned the pc legitimately, then you bought yourself a nice paperweight with a karmic price tag.

Try to remove the Bios IC if it's possible and replace it, or else try flashing it's firmware.
