Folliculitis can be described as inflamed hair follicles that may or may not contain bacteria. It can be caused by shaving, or something rubbing the skin. It may also develop from prior skin conditions.
The good news is there are things you can do to help prevent folliculitis.
Be careful shaving! Make sure to shave in the same direction of the hair growth, not against it. If skin is already irritated, do not shave. Be sure to use plenty of shaving cream and a new fresh razor every time you shave.
You can also avoid tight clothing or anything rubbing the skin.
