How can I permanently save a Verizon voicemail message to my computer (preferably in .mp3 format)?

A family member passed away, and I would like to record messages from them onto a disk for his mom. Thanks for any help you can give!
Tip for best answer: M$2.04
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Easy.... Skype.

I had a voicemail I needed recorded for legal purposes and skype worked. The client is free and then get one of the free trial addons that can record calls. Then just buy a couple bucks worth of dialing minutes. Then your ready to go from a computer connected to the internet.

Next best option (haven't tried in this scenerio). Is use Google Voice (www.google.com/voice) it allows you to initate a call that is routed to any number you choose. So link it to your cell or something. Then start a call to your number with the voicemail. Get in (code etc.). Then I believe its press 4 on your keypad and it will tell teh server connecting the calls to start recording the call. I think you can export it from GV to an MP3.

Hope that helps.

Sorry to hear it.
God bless!
Verizon voicemall that I have saved ASAP (before the it is being deleted). Get an audio adapter (usually 3.5mm) & straightly go to radio shack. You may use a 3.5mm cable to connect it into the input mic port on your Mac. Edited as MP3 - use Garageband to save it and export them. Turning up the handset volume and playing back your stored voicemails into the waiting microphone of a cassette recorder.

That's what I do, works like a charm.

I am sorry for your loss. What you could get a google voice account and forward the message to your google voice number. Best part it's free. =)
