The teasers and promos called this the season finale, so we can expect to see what happens to House, and to the others, in a few months when the next season begins. Also, Wikipedia states that the next season is scheduled to begin airing in September of this year.
So, yes, there's more to the story. I don't know if House will be able to continue practicing medicine after...stuff (trying to avoid spoilers here). However, he's been able to do all sorts of things that are absolutely ridiculous in real life, which is why this show is so entertaining. If he were a real doctor, though, he probably wouldn't be able to get malpractice insurance from any provider in the world, though, considering that he's perfectly okay with doing some insane things to patients.
I think that House will find a way to continue practicing. Maybe he'll go right back to doing what he was doing before the season finale. Maybe he'll take on an advisory or teaching role. (Scary thought: what if being committed changes him to the point where he actually likes the idea of lecturing? That could be weird.)
Or maybe he won't practice medicine anymore, but find something that satisfies his innate need to solve complicated puzzles. Who knows? The show's writers have done some unexpected things, especially this season, so I'm looking forward to seeing how next season's premiere works out.

Was that the season finale or the series finale of House tonight? Where can the story go now?
While hesitant to incidentally utter a spoiler, I do note that it is kinda complicated to bring Gregory House back to medical practice if he has been committed.

• There aren't really sources possible for a question like this. Your speculation flows well and is logically consistent with what has happened prior in the show. Congratulations.
