It's a little late to find a great of a deal for the conference.

I answered @robbrown with this same question.

It won't hurt to still ask Hotel Nikko what they have left. If they're all booked up, I would ask them directly what other hotels within their neighborhood might still have rooms available.

(there are other conventions happening that overlap the Tech Crunch50 dates, so don't delay!)

The issue with finding an inexpensive hotel within walking distance (at this late date) is that it might border on the Tenderloin area of SF. (not good...)

You might want to call the Westin

They might still have some rooms left. If they're all full, try the Hilton on O'Ferrell Street.

Have you checked out Mahalo's page on Cheap Hotels San Francisco? There may be one there that meets your needs.
