Most mature adult horses will survive this just fine.Make sure the horses get rest, and have dust free food. Young foals and yearlings should be carefully monitored. Foals especially can develop secondary bacterial pneumonia's which can require hospitalization and extensive treatment.
If you take the horse's temperature at this early stage it may be as high as 105.5 degrees. Both heart rate and respiratory rate may be elevated in response to the fever.

The symptoms of influenza in horses,are similar to cold symptoms in humans. The horses will display coughing , a runny , watery nose, that later becomes a very snotty nose.
