What are some good places to go on a honeymoon in September/October?
I'm trying to think up some good places to go on a honeymoon if I end up getting married this fall (as opposed to next spring), does anyone have any good suggestions? Especially important to take into consideration is weather/temperature for September/October and that we're looking for a tropical climate.

• Wow, thanks for the videos @krystyne20. New Zeland is a great suggestion, something I never would have thought of but a place I've always wanted to go!

There are lots of tropical places around the world that could be good to visit in September or October. And some where it could make a difference whether it's going to be early September or late October. Hawaii is good all year round.
If you have any other criteria, let me know and I'll see if I can think of somewhere to match.
Anyway, congratulations, whenever and wherever it's going to be!

Hawaii is a good, solid choice, but I'm looking for other interesting ideas too. Chances are it'll be closer to early October than late September/October.

If you're looking for classic honeymoon destinations, Mauritius or the Seychelles could be candidates.
If looking for something more adventurous, Madagascar or Indonesia might be on the list. South Africa might be good, but it's not full-on tropical, though quite warm enough for most people. Queensland (Australia) and the Great Barrier Reef would be tempting for me.

While not tropical, late October around Salem, Massachusetts is a great spot if you're into that sort of thing. Oktoberfest is during late September/early October, so Munich would be nice.
Thinking of warmer climes, the weather should still be nice in Morocco and Gibraltar. Gibraltar has great weather, great history, a decent exchange rate as the British pound is taking a beating, and Morocco is only a ferry ride away, with Casablanca being a little bit further away. It's also something different from typical honeymoon spots.
Another warm non-traditional honeymoon spot would be the Galapagos Islands, off the coast of Ecuador, where you could see Birds of Paradise and all kinds of other creatures unique to the islands.

Merely my own desire to visit the Galapagos.

I would recommend St. Lucia as an excellent Sept/Oct honeymoon destination. Only drawback: it will still be hurricane season, so that is certainly something to consider. Having honeymooned there myself though, I can say it is truly wonderful and has a lot to offer - hiking, beaches or just lounging around by a fancy pool sipping (very) fancy drinks!

For a tropical getaway you could go to the Bahamas. I have been there and its just gorgeous! All that blue water, you just can't beat the romantic atmosphere. While not tropical, but still on the beach, you could also go to Brugge, Belgium. Congrats on the future marriage and hope that the honeymoon is awesome!

My trip to the Bahamas and living in Germany for 4 years:) Never went to Brugge, but I went to Belgium and that was awesome in itself I can't imagine how awesome the beach would be!

I'd stay away from the Bahamas because of the very real chance of hurricane in Sept/Oct.

Yeah and bad weather can happen anywhere anytime, so I guess you just have to take that chance.

If the schedule of your Honeymoon changes and you're interested in Bahamas, check this out:
http://www.myoutislands.com/bahamas-resorts/bimini-map.cfm
Bimini Islands, Bahamas
"You have heard of Nassau, you know of Freeport, but have you ever been to mystifying Bimini in the Bahamas Out Islands? Popular with American bootleggers in the days of prohibition, the two islands that constitute the group — North Bimini and South Bimini — were popular outposts for rum runners.
Located just 50 miles from Florida’s coast, Bimini attracts wild Atlantic spotted dolphins and is the prime place for scuba diving or snorkeling over the mysterious Bimini Road that many believe was built by Atlantis’ own engineers. If that’s not enough mystery for you, grab some friends and kayak out to the true-to-life Fountain of Youth, where natural spring waters produce age-defying quantities of lithium and sulfur … or so they say."

Barcelona while not tropical is Mediterranean and has very nice weather. In September and October it isn't as crowded with tourists which is a plus. Autumn in Barcelona is beautiful and mild. Highs average 25 C (78 F) and lows about 17 C (62 F)The weather there is mild in general. And a gorgeous city to boot. Very romantic. And you can even catch the city's most important festival (La Merce) on the week of Sept 24. If festivals aren't your thing the city's gonna be pretty calm for the rest of the two months. If we're talking about tropical places per se, the Caribbean is always an option but as was mentioned previously it is in the middle of the hurricane season. September/October is not only hurricane season in the Caribbean but it can also rain and flood for days at a time even if there isn't a hurricane. I don't recommend anywhere in the Caribbean for those two months. The Caribbean is good between December and July.
To avoid hurricanes and seek out beaches, go to the South Pacific, like Fij or the South Indian ocean (Seychelles, Mauritius).
Add: Look into the Canary Islands as well. They are nice. I haven't been there but my uncle is obsessed with Tenerife for scuba and kite boarding.

Do you guys love nature and adventure? If so, Dominica (not to be confused with the Dominican Republic) is incredible. It's located in the Caribbean, but it was voted "Most unspoiled island in the Caribbean" by National Geographic Traveler. You won't find much of the typical touristy Caribbean stuff here, but you will find amazingly beautiful scenery and beaches. The island has dozens of gorgeous waterfalls, rivers, and even a cool boiling lake. It's perfect for a honeymoon because it's so private and gorgeous. When you're not spending quality time together, you can go hiking, scuba diving, whale watching, and kayaking. The culture there is also very interesting. I recommend staying at the Jungle Bay resort & spa ( http://www.junglebaydominica.com ). Dominica was named one of the Times Online's "10 perfect Caribbean Islands". You can see the entire list here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/travel/destinations/caribbean/article3250547.ece

Dominica is gorgeous but prone to hurricanes in September and October. It's smack in the middle of the Wayward Islands (those islands they always mention in the Weather Channel)

I wouldn't say "prone to." Yes, it's hurricane season, but probability is on your side. Late August/early September is the peak of the season.

Not necessarily...
I visited Dominica in the fall, and it was great.

Yes, anywhere in the Caribbean could be cloudy and rainy at that time. Quite apart from the less likely but more worrying hurricane risk.
If you don't care about the risk of rain, you can pick any tropical desitnation in the world: Thailand, Costa Rica, etc. There are plenty of gorgeous places in the world to choose from.

Absolutely. I mean I don't know how else I can say it but I live in the region and September/October are quite possibly the worst months to come here. While the weather is nice year round compared to say New England, Sept/Oct are by far the crappiest months. It can be good but you can also come here on one those weeks when it rains for days and then you'd wish you had gone someplace else.
Please don't get me wrong. Dominica is amazing and so are the other islands. And even September/October weather isn't that bad. But for the Caribbean I'd suggest anytime between December and July, especially February and March. After March/April it starts to get hot.
