Make sure your soil is dug deeply, with plenty of organic material such as compost mixed in. Before you dig a hole, bang a stake into the ground to tie the tomato plant to later on.
When you dig the hole, place a banana skin in the bottom, back fill a little then plant your tomato. The potassium in the banana skin will give your plant a huge boost when the roots reach it.
When you plant the tomato clip the two bottom leaves off and plant it so that the leaves are just above the surface. All of the little "hairs" that are on the stem will turn into new roots.
Keep the plant tied to the stake as it grows, protect from insects and fungus and you will have a bumper crop!
