How can I make homemade plant food?

Does anyone know how to make a quick and easy organic food for houseplants with common household ingredients?

House plants need a very, very, very, small amount of fertilizer if any at all! It is much more important to use a quality potting mix when first planting them and re-pot when the plant becomes root-bound. While homemade compost with the worm farm would be great, it is much more convenient to buy a bottle of fish emulsion. It will gently feed your house plants, and unless you have a regular jungle in your home, it will last you for a good long time, I have been using mine for 3 years.
peace,
joe

It sounds like you're looking for a small amount of compost. The best way I know of in that case is to make a compost mixed with certain types of worms. If you're doing it indoors, unfortunately you can't just add pureed banana peels because there's no agent to turn that into something the plant can use.

There's a link for making your own mulch. Basic instructions:
Collect compost
Add worms like red worms
Wait until the worms eat the compost.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm looking for something quicker, easier and that doesn't take up as much room as a worm bin would.

My mother saves and uses her used coffee grounds as a mulch around certain of her outdoor plants (those that like acidic soil). And apparently worms really love coffee ;)

I have heard of using coffee grounds for outdoor plants, but I am looking for something to feed by indoor plants.

If you don't mind getting a little dirty, create your own worm garden at home. It will produce tons of great, super-powerful and organic food for our houseplants.
