Clean the refrigerator and all items in it thoroughly. Manufacturers usually recommend a mild detergent in warm water. For tough cleaning, usually use a mild bleach solution. Bleach diluted in water makes a great disinfectant and deodorizer. Steer clear of specialty bleaches that have been mixed with surfactants to reduce splash. They lose their disenfecting power.
After cleaning, pour a box of fresh baking soda into a baking pan or dish and place in the middle of the fridge. If odor still remains, try a professional odor removing product.
