The Christmas tree should not be taken down anytime before January 6th, which is the Feast of the Epiphany. That is the celebration in the Christian church when the 3 Wise Men arrived to present the baby Jesus with gifts of Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh. This is also the 12th Day in the Christmas Season.

That's how we do it traditionaly in our family too. After the feast of the Epiphany. What's a few days more of seeing holiday decorations at home?

My wife, who would like her house clean again, prefers to take it down the day after Christmas, or the soonest possible day (like the weekend). This year I argued for a little longer - it's still up and likely will be until probably the day after New Year's. I just find the day after Christmas a little too depressing anyway, and rushing the whole "get rid of the decorations" thing isn't something I feel the need to do. After all, it's not like the Christmas tree looks any different after Christmas, it still looks nice, we still turn it on at night. Might as well enjoy it for a little while.
