What is the best place in San Francisco to watch fireworks on New Year's? Public Transport to get there?

I would like to take the BART to get to San Francisco.

Take BART to any of the downtown stations and find a friend who lives in a high rise condo with a view of the bridge, wait for midnight grab drink and step out on to balcony and enjoy the view

I went to Treasure Island , it had a great view of the city and a very nice view of the fireworks even with the fog rolling in.
However getting out of Treasure Island was tough , it took almost an hour to drive out of the island.
