It is debatable whether there is any "real" Easter Bunny. However, talk of this mythological character can be traced to the 1600s in Germany, and was passed to America by settlers. The Easter Bunny is generally described in anthropomorphic terms. I found a picture of a terrifying creature that could actually be the real Easter Bunny. He seems to be colluding with the former President of the United States. http://dcist.com/attachments/dcist_sommer/BushandEasterBunny.jpg

Yeah it's an angora. That's where the wool on angora sweaters comes from.

He's had to change his image for marketing purposes, you know, family friendliness and all that jazz, but he once did a cameo, in his original look, for Donnie Darko: http://thehostess.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/donnie_darko-frank.jpg
