Where's the water?

How do I turn on the water valve from the street curb to my house?

In Norfolk VA there is a small manhole cover in your fount yard. It is about the size of two hands side by side. Just lift the cover and turn the nob. On older houses there is a tool for it but pliers also.

You can call the city or water utility and ask them. There web site might also has instructions.

I said above you can use pliers. Line men are good. Go out and check for the cover 1st. Then you will get a better idea what to do. The tool I have has a T-bar at the top with a 2 prong fork at the bottom.
