the bottom one looks like some type of quartzite to me, but there are so many stones that look like that. maybe if you know what region on the planet that rock came from, it might help a more experienced lapidary to be able to identify it for you.

it's kinda hard for me to know by the photos, but the top one looks like alabaster to me. i used to work finishing stone sculptures for an artist who used to work with huge pieces of alabaster. my part was to sand and polish the chiseled works. the bottom one looks like some type of quartzite to me, but there are so many stones that look like that. maybe if you know what region on the planet that rock came from, it might help a more experienced lapidary to be able to identify it for you.
