They're both great lenses. As to what you should get depends on what you intend to use the lens for.
The 24-70 f/2.8L has a larger maximum aperture thus allowing a shallower depth of field and faster shutter speeds(compared to the 24-105 f/4.0L) in low light situations.
The 24-105 f/4.0L has a wider focal range making it a more all around lens than the 24-70. It also has IS which allows reduces camera shake up to 3 stops.
If you are more in to portraits I would recommend the 24-70 f/2.8L. For landscape and all around use the 24-105 f/4.0L offers more.

Depending upon your focal needs both lens are very good although IMO the 24-70 is a better lens for most shots. See these links for detailed reviews. Rumor has it that Canon will replace the 24-70mm by Sept/09 with an updated version.
