Creatures of all types have been eating eggs since as far back as there were eggs. Long before there were chickens, even. Frogs lay eggs; fish lay eggs; insects lay eggs. Eggs are packed full of nutrition, and they don't fight back.

Every creature that eats meat also eats eggs.

People have eaten eggs since long before they found Gallus gallus that became the modern domesticated chicken.  They also eat other parts of the animal that don't seem savory, but squamishmness about organs is a modern thing.  For most of history, they were prized for packing extra nutrition.
