what was the tuition rate in 1885?

There was no tuition in 1885. Arizona State University.. then known as Tempe Normal School was founded in '85 and held it's first classes February of '86 as a school to teach people how to be teachers.

Tuition was waived to students as long as they promised they would go back into teaching once the classes were over.
