Eighteen Rabbit was the 13th King in the dynasty that was founded by K'inich Yax K'uk' Mo'.
18-Rabbit began his reign in 695.
He is the best known Mayan King. One reason he is the best known King isy because he had the hieroglyphic staircase started which has the history of the Xukpi (the city - state known as copan) recorded on the 72 steps. There were 2200 blocks used in this staircase.
There is a monument to 18 Rabbit at the foot of the staircase.
This king was the most prolific builder of the Mayan civilization. He had 7 monuments build depicting himself as the different gods.
He also commissioned the great Plaza. It was 18 rabbit that expanded the ball court.
Eighteen Rabbit was beheaded as a sacrifice in Quirigua, the town to the North of Xukpi. His beheading took palce on May 3, 738.
With his death the Copan city began to decline.

Did future kings after 18 rabbit try to restore the glory of the kings by building a bigger pyramid?

Yax Pasah the 16th king did try. He built the Alter Q as a last monument to the 16 kings of Copan. It shows the faces of all 16 kings. It was the ultimate final tribute.
