First ever Super Bowl

The First AFL-NFL World Championship Game in professional American football, later to be known as Super Bowl I, was played on January 15, 1967 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.

The National Football League (NFL) champion Green Bay Packers (12–2) scored 3 second-half touchdowns en route to a 35–10 win over the American Football League (AFL) champion Kansas City Chiefs (11–2–1).

Expo 67!

It must be the most successful fair of the 20th century for over 50 million visitors and 62 nations participating. It had 569,000, a record, visitors on its third day.

I'd love to give one of the cheerful or inspiring events, but sadly, race riots were rampant.

The "Summer of Love" was clearly not affecting America's large cities and the issue of race.

The worst was the 12th Street riot in Detroit. For five days, the riot was rampant. At it's conclusion, 1189 people had been injured and 43 were dead.
Many people believe it to be one of the most violent riots in the 20th century.

In addition to the human loss and injury, 7200 people were arrested, 2500 stores were looted

On January 27, the Apollo 1 capsule burned on the launchpad, killing astronauts Grissom, White and Chaffee. Either a photo of the crew or the sad remains of the 5-minute fire would do.

I don't know of any album that changed the way we think about music as much as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Not only was it an iconic album, the cover was something else entirely. It features the faces of Bob Dylan, Edgar Allen Poe, W. C. Fields, and of course, all the Beatles. It also spawned some interesting "Paul is dead" rumors: the flowers seem to show the outline of a left-handed bass, a hand appears over Paul's head which supposedly symbolizes death, etc.
Also, this album was one of the most popular albums during the Summer of Love.

I so wanted to use this myself, but felt race issues then still have impact.
This and many great things in pop-culture happened, had to go with my gut.

Yeah, I'm kind of weird like that. I think of time in terms of music. When someone says 1973, I think of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. When I hear 1971, I think "Stairway to Heaven." And (as evidenced here) when someone says 1967, I think about Sgt. Pepper's...

In 1967, the 25th Amendment to the constitution is ratified, enacted and added to the constitution.

The 25th Amendment deals with succession to the Presidency and establishes procedures both for filling a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, as well as responding to Presidential disabilities. It supersedes the ambiguous wording of Article II, Section 1, Clause 6 of the Constitution, which doesn't explicitly state whether the Vice President becomes the President if the President died, resigned, was removed from office or was unable to discharge the Presidential powers.

In terms of impact, we are still dealing with the repercussions of the Six Day War, in which Israel captured the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Forty years later, we are still struggling trying to find a solution to the problems that ensued. The following pictures shows Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem after capturing the Western Wall.
