Simply put, Glenn Beck and Joe McCarthy both maintain their positions of power by scapegoating. Joe McCarthy maintained his position as a Senator by blaming all problems on the communists, while Glenn Beck maintains large profits for his station by blaming liberals. In truth, casual viewing of Glenn Beck should immediately show you the language being used that should raise red flags. Notice that there is very little "news" content, and the majority of the time is spent assigning blame for (often) non-existent problems.
