Was the Ark destroyed by the Babylons?

Is there recorded history of the Babylons taking the Ark?

Some historians do believe that the ark was probably taken away and destroyed by the Babylonians. But according to the Torah, the prophet Jeremiah was warned ahead of time by God, and took the ark. He then hid the ark in Mount Nebo.

• The Ark was not found in Ireland. It was supposed that Jeremiah escaped with the Ark and hid it in Ireland.
