It's in September.
Avast, thar, matey, be ye curious 'bout anythin'...anythin' a tall? Lay sail for Mahalo Answers and heave yer convoluted mental excrescences--means questions--at the motley crew on board there! There be a fine captain, aye, w' plenty o' booty fer every buccaneer who can prove hisself (or herself) a fine hand at answerin' said questions.
Just keep to the code, mateys, an' scupper thoughts o' gamin' the system with answers fit for the bilge, marooned wi' no known provenance. That's fer scurvy dogs who'll soon be sharkbait. Keep yer deadlights open, keep yer brainbox shipshape, an' soon you'll be an old salt. Ye won't be awalkin' the plank, but ye'll be a fulfledged member of The Brethern o' The Coast!

You're welcome, and thanks! It was fun constructing the speech, too. I was testing it out out loud and my kids were looking at me like I'd suddenly grown tentacles. I always remember AFTER the fact that it's International Talk Like a Pirate Day so it was nice to have license to use it!

You don't have to wait until Sept if you live in New Orleans. March 28 begins Pyrate Week. Here pirates are generally considered national heroes who helped drive off the British invaders. Besides, the general attitude here is "laws were made to be broken". The particular local heroes are Jean and Pierre Lafitte. But back to Pyrate Week, it's coming up soon, and (of course) there will be a parade and plenty of carousing. It's sponsored by the local rum distillery (Old New Orleans) and Bacardi.
