The Empanada had its origin in the '"muaajanat", they were the savory pastries introduced into Spain and Portugal during the Arabic occupation of the Iberian Peninsula. And in turn, after it became a traditional spanish food, the Spanish introduced it to Northern Mexico when they colonized Mexico.
