Djoser believed the famine was caused by not properly worshipping Khnum. Was the event about famine or two kingdom unification?
Djoser believe not properly worshipping Khnum caused the famine that is why he build the temple of Khnum.

An inscription known as the Famine Stela and claiming to date to the reign of Djoser, but probably created during the Ptolemaic Dynasty, relates how Djoser rebuilt the temple of Khnum on the island of Elephantine at the First Cataract, thus ending a seven-year famine in Egypt. Some consider this ancient inscription as a legend at the time it was inscribed. Nonetheless, it does show that more than two millennia after his reign, Egyptians still remembered Djoser.

The text goes on to record Djoser's attempt to find the origins of the Nile flood and to understand the role played by Khnum in the inundation. He then makes an offering to Khnum, and the god appears to him in a dream, promising,
"I will cause the Nile to rise up for you. There will be no more years when the inundation fails to cover any area of land. The flowers will sprout up, their stems bending with the weight of the pollen."

What was the influencial mark in history of Dsojer?
His influencial mark was "his innovative tomb"
----quote----
Manetho states Djoser ruled Egypt for twenty-nine years, while the Turin King List states it was only nineteen years. Because of his many substantial building projects, particularly at Saqqara, some scholars argue Djoser must have enjoyed a reign of nearly three decades.

Djoser is best known for his innovative tomb, which dominates the Saqqara landscape4. In this tomb he is referred to by his Horus name Netjerykhet. In fact, Djoser, is a name given by New Kingdom visitors thousands of years later5. Djoser’s step pyramid is astounding in its departure from previous architecture. It sets several important precedents, perhaps the most important of which is its status as the first monumental structure made of stone. The social implications of such a large and carefully sculpted stone structure are staggering5.
