Think of it as a dedicated search engine like Google but just for abbreviations and acronyms.But i guess tha's not very helpful to you,now the part that will interest tyou is that the reverse is true meaning that you can input the full name of any organisation in your case university like say, University of California Los Angeles ,you choose the word to abbreviation option on the drop down menu and voila you have the abbreviation.So starting with the Uni's you know you can work backwards and get all the Abbreviations.

Where can I find a list of major University abbreviations or acronyms in the United States?
I need a list of University abbreviations. Any help or guidance would be appreciated!
Examples:
UNC - University of North Carolina
ECU - East Carolina University
PSU - Penn State University
OSU - Oklahoma State University

Here's a short list... I honestly think it'll be hard to find a comprehensive list though, especially since there's some universities that have the same abbreviations. http://www.all-acronyms.com/tag/university

Well i have been checking around and i chanced upon this website abbreviations dot com,now what this site has is a nifty drop down menu. on the one hand you can put abbreviations/acronyms like for instance OSU it will give you all the 15 relevant searches it has in various categories then you narrow down to whichever you want.
