Most of the times if the kids lost something they really cared about they will go to the lost and found in no time. You can send all the stuff to charities after a period of time.

Put the items in a box and tell students. Make an announcement over the intercom, telling when they can come to your office, if they are interested to look in the box. After the students finish, tell the teachers that they can have whatever they want. If you still have things in the box, send those things to the Salvation Army.

Perhaps posting some flyers in the cafeteria. Or using the intercom to announce that if anyone has lost something they can go to the lost and found department. You can also do a giveaway, at a certain time students can got to the lost and found and get anything they want from it. Most of the times if the kids lost something they really cared about they will go to the lost and found in no time. You can send all the stuff to charities after a period of time.
