I suppose that there is an off chance that a cold sore could transfer from glass to glass, but the chance of that would be pretty low in my expert beer pong opinion. http://www.herpes-coldsores.com/cold_sores.htm#Are_Cold_Sores_really_Herpes

It COULD, presuming you mean cold sore herpes and not the sexually transmitted disease. It's certainly possible to pick up the herpes virus from a drinking vessel someone else has used. Whether or not it WOULD is another question. I'm guessing not too often, about as often as cold viruses and bacteria like strept throat get passed on by sharing glassware.

It could in fact lead to cold sores, but there's plenty of other things it can lead to that are much worse, including pneumonia, strep throat, and meningitis, which can be fatal. Check it out: http://www.kansan.com/stories/2008/aug/28/s_disgusting_beer_pong/

This is a hoax. This is something that was a spoof article that was then picked up and repeated by legitimate news sources that didn't bother to check the facts. Herpes is however a highly contagious virus.
