I took my blood pressure with my friend's instrument. It's 112 over 55, with a pulse of 53. Is this normal/healthy? I'm a 22-year old male.

I'm not asking for medical advice, just was interested as the blood pressure chart here http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/medicine/blood-pressure.htm seemed to suggest it wasn't optimal.

Normal blood pressure has a systolic between 90 and 135 (the top number), and a diastolic between 50 and 90 (the bottom number). For an adult, a normal pulse rate is between 60-100, and 40–60 beats per minute for those who are athletes. The pulse is a little low, but if you are athletic this would be within the normal range. I would however recommend that you see your doctor to have your readings done, as these home electronic devices are not the greatest in accuracy. The good old fashion way of having someone use a stethoscope and a regular blood pressure cuff is most accurate.
