If it hurt really bad that mean it could be infected.

Actually, the body has no memory for the feeling of pain. Just the thought of pain. So you can remember thinking "that really hurt!", but you won't be able to recall the actual feeling you experienced, only the thoughts associated with it.
So yesterday, you experienced pain. But you can't remember what it felt like. You can remember thinking "this hurt bad!" or "this hurt not so bad!" or the similar emotional feelings. But you will only be able to FEEL the pain you are feeling now. So you can't compare.

Even when you can't remember the FEELING of this pain anymore, you'll likely remember thinking "man, it hurt so much more than yesterday" because thats what you've told yourself.

Pain is relative!
