While working in a Chinese restaurant, the hot oil in the fryer became contaminated and needed to be changed. The person doing this carried an open container of hot oil across the kitchen (unbeknownst to me) and tripped. The boiling oil was sloshed over my hand causing extremely painful burns that took months to heal.

If you are curious, Chinese deep fryer oil is usually kept between 350-375 degrees Fahrenheit, as shown in the source link below. The oil that got my hand would have been slightly cooler than this since it had been removed from the fryer, but it was still very hot.
