Whatever happened to the executive order that was to allow federal employees who were gay to carry their partners on their healthcare insura

I am a reired "Gay" Federal Employee on a pension. I would like to carry my partner of 21 years on my health insurance (Mailhamdlers).

President Obama did sign an executive order granting limited rights to same-sex partners. However, an executive order can't overrule the federal law banning same-sex partners from such benefits as insurance coverage. The proposed Domestic Partners Benefits and Obligations Act, which Obama supports, will do so; this bill is still progressing through various committees, and a vote will not be taken for some time.
