Well, as far as I know there's nothing that can be done for a broken rib. They just have to heal by themselves. I may be wrong so I hope someone will correct me if I am!
My boyfriend went to the hospital two years ago with severe chest pains and difficulty breathing - he found out that he had two broken ribs from an accident a year before. He had taken a year to notice he had broken ribs :s
He's fine now though, I assume most broken/fractured ribs heal well over time.
