What training tips should a person follow when preparing too walk 26.4 miles in six hours?

Chi walking or speed walking is the new fade for completing a marathon. Human are best at walking. Humans can outwalk any creature on the planet.

What should be the training distance?
How frequent should the person train?
What type of equipment (shoes, gps, water bag, etc should be used)

I think that anyone in reasonable shape should be able to do it. Walking several miles at a time a few days a week would help. A good pair of runners that are broken in a bit (no blisters) are essential. A camel pack type hydration system is also a good idea. My ex-wife was overweight, and diabetic yet entered the Honululu Marathon, walking, several years ago to raise money for some cause, she finished in eight hours without a problem.

• I'm training at 13 miles once a week and 8 miles a few times a week. Do you think I need to increase the 13 miles to 18 miles?

I think that if you are managing the distances you are doing already without much in the way of fatigue and pain you will be fine doing a full marathon. If your pace at your 13 mile walk is about 3 hours.
