I was undergoing a bad time of my life when i was diagnose with high BP at the age of 30. I found it hard to sleep and would remain awake till 2-3 pm. This made conditions all the more worse. Then on internet i read many articles and found this one specially beneficial

My life changed when i started with yoga. This helped me to calm my mind.As for sleeping i started early dinner by 6pm.Thereafter i would go for walks with my children(they use to cycle). This 1 hr stroll would not only enhance myfamily relationships but also help me and my children to have a relaxed sound sleep. At times i even have a hot water bath or try putting my feet in hot water.

Taking a bath before sleeping is effective almost to anyone. It works for babies, for some adults and to some pets too! ^^ My cats sleeps well after drying up.

Another good thing to do to fall asleep is by reading. Reading makes our eyes feel tired that eventually makes us asleep.

If reading still doesn't work, try drinking a glass of lukewarm milk. I've seen this one working on most people. :)

I haven't tried the old method they said about counting sheep that's why I wouldn't recommend that one. :D

As someone that suffers from insomnia a great deal, I find doing some simple breathing techniques (or light yoga) helps. I also drink an herbal tea called "Sleepytime" tea. This usually relaxes me enough to catch some Zzzz unless I'm extra wired over something stressful.

I was watching "The Doctors" TV show yesterday, and they suggested counting backwards by 3 from 300... so I tried it last night and it actually worked! I didn't allow my mind to stray to other things, and it was so boring that I fell asleep. lol.

Although (and I know you don't want drug recommendations) I use melatonin. Which is a vitamin, melatonin occurs naturally in your body already to make you sleep. I take one, and it helps me relax. I don't have the druggy feeling in the morning, and it's not hard to wake yourself up either.

Daydreaming . . .

I ususally daydream myself onto a nice beach with a cool breeze and I sit and listen to *yawn* the wa iv es gen tly . . . . zzzz . . .

OK so I was going for a silly/fun way of answering that, but seriously it works like a dream. Give it a try sometime.

PS a nice side effect, I tend to have good dreams when I do this

What I do is concentrating on my breaths. Just say inhale to inhale and exhale to exhale. After a couple of minutes I drift of to sleep.
Or Just keep an affirmation like ''I love myself''
