I answer questions on Mahalo, read books, watch TV and listen to podcasts. Mellowing out is a state of mind and often you need to do nothing, phyically, while doing something mentally to distract you from your everyday cares.
Meditation, breathing and visualization exercises can help with physical stress if the exercise is not helping. Often times when we are stressed for long periods of time we have high levels of adrenaline in our system that can persistently increase our stress levels. Exercise can help to relieve that adrenaline but without the slowing down mentally, the stress levels just ramp up again.
