There are a number of causes to dizziness. According to MayoClinic.com here are a few: vertigo, feeling of faintness and loss of balance (disequilibrium).

Both dizziness and faintness are both feelings that you might encounter when your brain is not getting enough oxygen. In some cases they can also be a result of a lack of hydration which in turn affects blood pressure and again oxygen delivery to the brain.
