It depends what kind of arthritis you have. If its rheumatoid you will need some prescriptoin drugs (because your immune system is attacking your body), but if its every day joint pain then try taking these. Also, walking 30 minutes a day will get the fluids running through your joints.

I always walk 10 minutes before and after a run, and this has tremendously relieved my knee and ankle joint pain.

Take (All three of these help with your joints and their lubrication)

chondroitin
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chondroitin_sulfate

glucosamine
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucosamine

Fish Oil

All three are "supposedly" good for your joints.

Believe or not, but exercise is actually a great way to relieve arthritis pain. I have had arthritis myself for over 10 years (since I was in my early 20's) and taking a moderate hike or swiming (the best exercise for arthritis) really does help. I tend to know my limit. You don't want to over do it and then be in pain for days, but moderate exercise actually makes my pain lesson in a few days time when I'm consistant at including it in my schedule.

Yoga is another great exercise, because it can get to those muscles in the sholders and back area that other moderate exercises do not. I have found it to be extremely helpful for those areas walking just doesn't help with.

This is a great way to manage the pain rather than covering it up with medication.

Hope this helps.

Have you read the book, "Quantum Healing", Chopra claims neural peptides and thought are the reason your exercise is helping. Have you tried any visualization therapy?

As stated above, care for arthritis is dependent upon the type, Osteoarthritis (joint overusage), or Rheumatoid Arthritis (auto immune disease). Drugs commonly used to help with the pain and inflammation associated with Arthritis are NSAIDS (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), however taking these may potentially yield other problems by blocking the important cox-1 enzyme.

As an alternative method, many people have had success in living with Arthritis by incorporating a low impact exercise routine, (swimming is fantastic), along with the combination of supplements such as chondroitin, glucosamine, msm (Methylsulfonylmethane), and believe it or not pineapple juice! (which contains "bromelain," a natural anti-inflammatory)

Hope this helps a little!
