sharp shooting pain in right hand at the base of thumb

i have a little "paper cut" style cut on the back of my right hand at the base of my thumb. any thing that comes close to touching it like with in 1/2 starts this sharp pain in area. if i bend it funny it has the same pain. it feels like there are 20 needles around it and they all get pushed at once when it happens. any one have a idea what it could be? it hurts like a mother _____ when it happens and has been for a week now or so. the sides are not as touchy as like the base of my thumb and my wrist from it.
i got the cut play fighting with my gf i had her by her wrists and she dug her nail in to me but the pain didn't start till the next day. could it just be a muscle tendent that is cut a little and it was stretched when it was cut so it moving hurts more?
sorry pic looks weird thumb id at the bottom with fingers on the left and wrist at the top.

Because you find it so sensitive to touch, it may be that the cut has gotten infected. Contrary to what some people believe, it is possible to have a wound of any size become infected, as long as the skin is broken and/or open to the air.

Other ways of telling whether it's infected is if you notice the skin's rather warmer than usual near the cut, or if it has unusual redness or swelling.

I'd suggest applying some Neosporin or similar abrasion-treatment, and then putting a bandage on to protect it - not too tightly to the skin, so that it can still breathe - and then leaving it for a couple of days, changing the bandage and reapplying the medicine about 1-2 times a day. If it gets better, fine, but if it doesn't get better, or even gets worse, you should definitely go see a doctor.
