The best way to find a specialist is to get a referral from your primary physician. If you don't have one, check the website of a local hospital. They most often than not have several listings of their specialty doctors, hours of operation, ect. Keep in mind, if you have medicaid (medical card) or certain types of insurance, some will not cover a visit to a specialist unless your primary care physician refers you. It's also a good idea to ask around, not all doctors are created equally. Good luck and I wish you the best.

Mahalo has some suggestions for How to Find a Doctor that may be helpful. http://www.mahalo.com/how-to-find-a-doctor

The doctor's web site is a useful starting point, but you can also get information from hospitals, the state board, and the AMA.

The lack of a website is only important if the client feels the need to connect with the doctor electronically- as the lack of a website may indicate that they don't use internet communications or email in their practice. As the ability to download forms and instructions online is important to some people, that may matter-- but if it's not important to the patient, then the lack of a website isn't significant.
