If you are just having a glass of wine because you went out with family/friends or even if it would go well for breakfast and it is not an everyday occasion then I think you do not have to worry about being an alcoholic.

I think if you work third shift and come home to a glass of wine then you may not be an alcoholic, but if you're consuming an alcoholic beverage every morning with your frosted flakes..umm that might be a problem.

One of the questions in the CAGE assessment of alcoholism is the E. Do you drink alcohol as an EYE OPENER? Do you drink it to feel stable or perhaps fend off a pesky hangover. Is this why you are drinking your merlot?
