1) The first is a warm salt water gargle. My guess is that you have probably tried this already.
2) The second tastes terrible, but is worthwhile: Use a tablespoon of powdered sage in about two tablespoons of olive oil. Let it sit five minutes, then gargle it for as long as you can stand it (its a very strong taste). The oil from the sage will help anaesthetize your throat and will help support faster healing.
Hope you feel better soon, Jo!

• Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge, Lynn. The sage is helping. Now, if I can only keep myself from talking too much so it can heal!

The salt water helped a little last night. I just tried the olive oil and sage combo about 20 minutes ago. It's helping quite a bit. Thanks for the great tip!

Glad the sage oil helped some, Jo. If you had access to Sage Essential Oil, it would work even better.

When I have throat issue I do 1 of these. I list these in order of effectiveness.
1) I drink warm Ginger juice, it tastes bad. In my home we call it horror juice, but it works really well. You get ginger root and shave it and put the shaving into the water and nuke it. Basically you are making ginger root tea. To make it taste better you can add orange and/or honey. Remember the stronger the better.
2) Gargle warm salt water.
3) Dink flat ginger ale. A doctor told me to this once. Not as good as #1
Hope this helps you.
